Ecuador/Peru/Colombia Trip

To be honest this trip came out of the blue for me. I've been wanting to make my way to some part of South America all summer, but between school and.... well, more school, I had no time to plan the trip like I expected.

But a friend of mine said he was going there for vacation, and I said great, I'll meet you there! and I bought my ticket that week.

The trip will include summiting Cotopaxi which is an active stratovolcano (similar to Mt. Fuji) at an elevation of 19,347 feet. After 10,000 ft, air begins to thin out significantly so I'll be spend a few days in Quito to acclimate to the thinner air before summiting.

Next stop will be to Latacunga for a little RnR and then off to the Amazon!

After which I'll have an option of either Peru or Colombia.

I'm flying out at 2330 on Jan 5th and touching down the morning of the 6th in Guayaquil and taking a small charter plane into Quito where the adventure begins.

It'll be a great start to the new year. 3 more semesters till I graduate with a B.E. in Civil Engineering, and very limited time to explore the world before I'm part of the work force.

Ill make a gear list for you guys to check out before I leave. Hopefully I'll be able to access some Internet while I'm there and keep this blog updated.
